Mirrors are made of a glass pane coated with a thin layer of reflective material, typically aluminum or silver. Typically, a protective backing is also added to reinforce the mirror and prevent the reflective coating from wearing over time.

The ideal mirror thickness will depend on how you intend to use it. For wall-mounted mirrors, 4–6 mm is sufficient, while larger mirrors or those used in high-traffic areas benefit from 6 mm thickness for durability. Thicker mirrors are less prone to distortion and provide better reflection quality.

To properly hang a mirror, use appropriate wall anchors and hooks based on the mirror’s weight. For heavier mirrors, use wall studs or heavy-duty brackets. Position the mirror at eye level or slightly above furniture, and always use a level to make sure the mirror is straight and securely mounted.
